Pam Marrone "retired" from Marrone Bio Innovations, Inc. in 2020 after a series of troubles for the company including a potential cash shortage, an accounting scandal and a 94% drop in their share price.
The company announced Marrone's "retirement" on December 2, 2019. They said "Marrone Bio will undertake a search for a successor." Usually, senior management changes in large corporations are planned years in advance, so this was a sudden and unexpected "retirement." The announcement followed years of financial troubles and
a 94% decline in Marrone Bio Innovations, Inc.’s share price
since January 2014.
Pam was forced out of AgraQuest in 2006. “Of course, getting basically kicked out of AgraQuest is probably the low of my career." After leaving AgraQuest, she created Marrone Bio Innovations, Inc.
AgraQuest was acquired by Bayer Crop Science in 2012 for $425 million, six years after Marrone was forced out.
